Cancer Massage Therapy

Massage is a complementary therapy for cancer treatment.  Complementary therapies aim to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease.  While massage doesn’t treat the cancer itself, it may help reduce the side effects caused by conventional treatments and improve quality of life and wellbeing.

Massage helps improve physical symptoms, and does the following:

  • Makes them feel whole again
  • Helps them to relax
  • Helps them share feelings in an informal setting
  • Makes them feel more positive about their body
  • Rebuilds hope
  • Reduces pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety and depression
  • Aids in sleep, the health of scar tissue, quality of life, mental clarity and range of movement.

Once cancer treatment is complete, maintaining a nutritious diet helps the body heal and offers protective effects for the future. Good nutrition is especially important if you have cancer because both the illness and its treatment can affect your appetite. Cancer and cancer treatments can also affect your body’s ability to tolerate certain foods and use nutrients. We can help you and your loved ones learn about your nutrition needs and cope with treatment side effects that may affect how well you can eat.
